We all know how important schools are for the future of our children and for our
community as a whole. The La Crosse Public Education Foundation is a nonprofit
organization created in 1987, to raise funds to enhance the education of our children in
the School District of La Crosse. The Foundation is an independent, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3)
charitable organization providing the School District of La Crosse with resources for the
extras that stretched budgets cannot provide. With the financial challenges of schools
today, we expect the Foundation's role in providing support for public education to grow in
many ways.

Our funds are diversified and include Random Acts of Kindness, the General Endowment
Fund, the Richard Swantz Fund, the Marilyn Hurt Fund, and the Steven and Julianna
Blanchar Kindergarten Trip Endowment Fund.

In 2004, we were honored to have the Grimslid Family establish a fund at La Crosse
Public Education Foundation in memory of their wife and mother, Sally. Their words say it
best . . .

Sally had an enduring love for teaching. Her patience, compassion and caring
attitude were reflected in the young minds of those she loved. Our family felt that an
endowment in her name with the La Crosse Public Education Foundation would
be an excellent way to honor her passion for helping youngsters for years to come.

The Family of Sally Grimslid

This beautiful tribute on the part of the Grimslid Family was a wonderful reminder of the
value of the Foundation and our partnership with our schools, our children and our
community.

Each year, La Crosse Public Education Foundation awards grants to teachers, staff,
students, and community members.
On Monday, May 9, 2005 at 4 p.m. we held the
Venture and Swantz Grant Ceremony at Central High School to honor our previous year's
Venture Grant and Swantz Grant recipients and to award new grants. We invite you to
attend and participate in this auspicious occasion. Many of the recipients have displays
highlighting their project that have included concerts, videos, and demonstrations. To
date, La Crosse Public Education Foundation has awarded 245 grants totaling $156,496!
This money has started many new and exciting programs and provided creative
opportunities that would not have otherwise been possible.

We want to thank you for visiting our website and hope that you will consider a gift to the
La Crosse Public Education Foundation.
